With President Obama’s trip to Puerto Rico causing some hubbub about this, I wanted to chime in with my own personal view.

Puerto Rico should be a state. With full power for it’s people to determine it’s own future. They should have votes in Congress and be able to voted for the President without moving to Florida first. Apparently, the first George Bush and Bill Clinton also agree with me.

Of course, in my personal beliefs, I think the map should also include maybe Guam, the US Virgin Islands, the District of Columbia, Cuba if that situation ever calmed down for like 20 years, and others…

Or, my personal favorite, and one I think would be much more likely to happen within my lifetime:

That’s the 65 States of AmeriCanada. Only one international border to worry about, and America’s on it’s way to walling that off already. The Coast Guard gets more work to do, but hey, it’s not like Canada doesn’t already patrol it’s own coasts. (Note that this map does include Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and the BVIs)
